Two Vintage Afghan Beaded Talismans, Decorative Tassels | Rare Find - NO.5

£48.00
Only 1 available

These handcrafted beaded tassels are made made by Afghans to decorate anything from entrances to their home, garments, cattle and any means of transport as a talisman for good luck.

I bought these tassels from a shopkeeper in Qissa-khawani Bazaar [Storyteller Bazaar] one of the oldest traders markets in the world in Peshawar, Pakistan; a place that has been home to millions of Afghan refugees. I have had these tassels in my possession since 1998, but they were most likely made in the 1980’s or earlier.

Over the past 30 years I have collected objects and textiles from Afghanistan as way to feel connected to my paternal ancestry. I have kept a few for myself, given some as gifts to family and friends to keep as good luck charms. Now I am ready to part with the last few I have.

You will receive pair NO.5 sold as seen.
