Pair of Vintage Afghan Decorative Tassels | Rare Find, No.4

Sale Price:£38.00 Original Price:£48.00

These handmade tassels are made by tribal women in Afghanistan and are used to embellish anything from their home, garments, cattle and any means of transport as they are thought to be a good luck talisman.

Made with various coloured beads and metal findings.

I bought these tassels in Peshawar in 1998 from one of the oldest textile and trinket traders markets in the world, Qissa-khwani Bazaar [Storyteller Bazaar], fabled for being a bazaar on the old silk route.

Over the past 30 years I have collected several of these beautiful tassels along with other vintage textile items made by Afghans as a way to feel connected to my paternal ancestry, I am now parting with some of the items I have collected.

USE FOR:

  • Keyhole or door handle decoration.

  • Curtain pulley or tie backs.

  • Embellish a garment or pin to braided hair.

  • Hang on a dreamcatcher or christmas tree.
