Pair of Vintage Afghan Decorative Tassels | Rare Find, No.6
These handmade tassels are made by tribal women in Afghanistan and are used to embellish anything from their home, garments, cattle and any means of transport, they are thought to be a good luck charm.
Made with various coloured beads and tiny shells and metal findings.
I bought these tassels in Peshawar in 1998 from one of the oldest textile and trinket traders markets in the world, Qissa-khwani Bazaar [Storyteller Bazaar].
Over the past 30 years I have collected several of these beautiful tassels along with other vintage textile items made by Afghans as a way to feel connected to my paternal ancestry, I am now ready to part with some of the items.
